What to Do If You Miss a Dose
If you miss your scheduled GLP-1 dose, what you should do depends on:
Which medication you are taking
How much time has passed since your missed dose
How close you are to your next scheduled injection day
General Missed Dose Guidance
In most cases:
Take the missed dose as soon as possible if you are still within the medication’s recommended missed-dose window
Skip the missed dose if it is too close to your next scheduled injection
Never take two doses close together to make up for a missed dose
Missed Dose Windows by Medication
Semaglutide
If you miss a dose of semaglutide, take it as soon as possible within 5 days of the missed dose.
If more than 5 days have passed, skip the missed dose and continue with your next scheduled injection.
If your next scheduled dose is less than 2 days (48 hours) away, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule.
If you miss semaglutide for more than 2 weeks, contact your provider before restarting.
Tirzepatide
If you miss a dose of tirzepatide, take it as soon as possible within 4 days (96 hours).
If more than 4 days have passed, skip the missed dose and wait until your next scheduled injection day.
Restarting After Multiple Missed Doses
If you have missed multiple doses or have been off your medication for several weeks, contact your provider or the Mevo Health support team before restarting treatment.
After a longer break, your body may lose some tolerance to the medication. Restarting at your previous dose could increase the risk of side effects such as:
Nausea
Vomiting
Stomach discomfort
Diarrhea
Your provider may recommend restarting at a lower dose and gradually increasing again.
Tips to Help Avoid Missed Doses
Take your medication on the same day each week
Set a phone reminder or calendar alert
Track your injections in your patient portal or personal calendar
Refill your medication before running out
Important Information
Never take extra medication to compensate for a missed dose
Taking doses too close together may increase the risk of side effects
