Semaglutide Syringe & Dosing Instructions

Learn how to safely measure semaglutide using your syringe, understand units and mL, and correctly follow the prescription label included with your medication.

Your semaglutide prescription includes dosing instructions based on your specific medication concentration and treatment plan. Always follow the prescription label included with your shipment.

This guide explains how to understand your syringe and safely prepare your prescribed dose.

Understanding Your Syringe

Most patients receive a 100-unit insulin syringe.

Basic syringe conversion:

  • 1 mL = 100 units

  • 1 large line = 10 units

  • 1 small line = 2 units

Your prescription label will tell you:

  • Your prescribed dose

  • Your medication concentration

  • The exact number of units to draw into the syringe

Important Safety Note: Always verify the prescription label before injecting. The label contains the exact number of units you should take. Never rely on old dosing instructions or another patient’s prescription.

Understanding Units, mL, and mg

Your prescribed dose is usually written in milligrams (mg), while your syringe measures liquid volume in units or milliliters (mL).

This means your prescription label may reference:

  • mg (the medication dose)

  • mL (liquid volume)

  • units (what you draw into the syringe)

Your prescription label is the most important reference for determining the correct amount to inject.

Note: If you are unsure how to interpret your syringe measurement, see this article: How to Read Your Syringe (Units, mL, mg), or you may also contact support for guidance before injecting.

Before You Inject

Before preparing your dose:

  • Confirm the concentration printed on your prescription label

  • Verify the exact number of units listed on your label

  • Double-check your syringe measurement before injecting

  • Use only the syringe provided or approved with your medication

If anything appears unclear or different from previous shipments, contact support before injecting.

Injection Reminders

  • Inject once weekly on the same day each week

  • Rotate injection sites regularly

  • Never estimate or guess syringe units

  • Never adjust your dose unless instructed by your licensed provider

  • Store medication according to your prescription instructions
