Traveling With Your Medication

Learn how to safely travel with your GLP-1 medication, including carry-on guidelines, cooling tips, syringe transport, and medication storage during flights and trips.

You can travel with your GLP-1 medication, including when flying domestically or internationally. Proper storage during travel helps maintain medication quality and temperature stability.

What to Bring

When traveling, it is recommended to bring:

  • Your medication vial

  • Syringes or injection supplies

  • An insulated travel bag or cooler

  • Cold packs if refrigeration is needed

  • A small sharps container or travel-safe disposal container

  • Your prescription or treatment confirmation information if needed during travel

Air Travel Tips

GLP-1 medications and syringes are generally allowed in carry-on luggage.

For best results:

  • Keep medication in your carry-on bag

  • Do not place medication in checked luggage

  • Avoid exposing medication to extreme heat or freezing temperatures

  • Keep supplies organized and easy to access during security screening

Temperature & Storage While Traveling

To help maintain medication stability:

  • Use insulated cooling packs during longer trips

  • Avoid leaving medication in parked vehicles or direct sunlight

  • Refrigerate the medication when possible after arriving at your destination

Note: Cold packs may soften or thaw during travel, especially on longer trips. This does not always mean the medication is unusable, but prolonged exposure to high temperatures should be avoided.
